Abstract

1536877 Stacking sheets PRINTEX 19 Dec 1975 [20 Dec 1974] 52014/75 Heading B8R [Also in Division B5] In a machine for forming and stacking plastics bags having a device 7 for blowing air over both sides of a web 1 of bag forming material to ensure that the web is moved beyond transverse sealing and cutting elements 2, 5 and 3, 6 a baffle 36 is provided to shield bags in a stack on a discharge conveyer 12 from being displaced by air from the blowing device. The baffle 36 is pivotally mounted and movable from a lowered, shielding position to a raised position to a raised position which permits movement of the stacks by the conveyer 12. The stacks also pass below a roller 35 which is movable between a raised position and a lowered position whereat it contacts the top of the stack and is driven at the same speed as the conveyer 12. A bag stacking arrangement comprises a plurality of upstanding pins 17 and a vertically reciprocable apertured member 18 for pushing successive bags on to the pins as the web is transversely sealed and cut. A vertically reciprocable element 20 supports the bags during stacking and pushes the completed stack off the pins 17 in response to a counter for counting the bags. The discharge conveyer 12 comprises an intermittently movable endless belt, the stepwise movement of which is adjustable to suit bags of different lengths.
