Abstract

1536537 Grafted block polymers UNITED STERLING CORP Ltd 14 Jan 1976 [14 Oct 1974] 44466/74 Heading C3P An elastomer-toughened polymer is produced by (a) providing a solution consisting essentially of an elastomeric copolymer of a conjugated diene with a styrene monomer, all or part of the styrene monomer occurring in the form of one or more block sequences, optionally together with minor amounts of conventional additives, in a mixture of styrene and acrylonitrile monomers, (b) suspending said solution in an aqueous suspension medium and (e) heating the resulting suspension to polymerize the solution into beads. The mixture of styrene and acrylonitrile monomers may contain a minor proportion of a vinyl ester of a monocarboxylic acid, an aliphatic or alicyclic ester of a monoethylenically unsaturated acid, or a vinyl alkyl or aryl ketone. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,031,496.
