Abstract

1536298 Transfers MDV MARKTSERVICE FUR DEKORATION UND VERPACKUNG GmbH 11 Oct 1976 [11 Oct 1975] 42181/76 Heading B6C A transfer comprises a backing paper layer, a release or peelable coating and an image layer in that order, wherein the release or peelable coating comprises a natural adhesive, a synthetic water-soluble adhesive and a wax-like release or peeling agent. The natural adhesive may be starch, alginate or blood albumin. The synthetic adhesive may be methyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, or polyvinyl alcohol. The wax-like agent may be a metal soap or a chromium or aluminium complex salt. The release or peelable coating may also include a synthetic water-insoluble plastics material, e.g. a polyolefin or a polyfluorohydrocarbon, and a primer layer be applied between the backing paper and the release or peelable coating. The image may be removed from the backing paper layer by compressed air, and held on a carrier by suction, the carrier then being applied to the surface to be marked, and compressed air used to apply the image, preferably by bulging a flexible surface of the carrier carrying the image.
