Abstract

1536117 Cutting apparatus ROYAL SOVEREIGN GROUP Ltd 10 Aug 1977 33579/77 Heading B4B A guillotine comprises a base, a fixed blade 12 mounted on one edge of the base, a movable blade 13 pivotally connected to the base and a guard plate 18 attached to the base, a member 21 being provided on the opposite side of the plate for movement with the blade 13 and arranged to press the guard plate into contact with the movable blade over substantially the whole of its pivoting arc and along the whole of its length. The member 21 is fitted with pads (22), e.g. of nylon, Fig. 3 (not shown), adapted to press against the guard and thereby force it into contact with the blade; the pads may be replaced by bolts, rollers or balls.
