Abstract
1535664 Purifying aluminium fluoride solutions FREEPORT MINERALS CO 11 March 1977 [11 May 1976] 10472/77 Heading C1A Iron values are recovered from aqueous solutions of aluminium fluoride by contacting the solution with an extractant which comprises a solution of a mixture of an alkyl-substituted monophenylphosphoric acid and an alkyl-substituted diphenylphosphoric acid in an inert organic solvent. The iron depleted aqueous solution obtained may then be treated to crystallize out aluminium trifluoride trihydrate, which may be dried and dehydrated and/or subjected to pyrolytic hydrolysis to obtain alumina and hydrogen fluoride.
