Abstract

153,542. McKechnie, W. Aug. 9, 1920. Materials, special, for boxes; lids. - A light. weight box for transmission of bottles and other fragile articles is made of cork or moulded cork composition, and has a hinged or pivoted lid which is held in position by a band or loop attached to the body portion of the box. The lid b is fitted with a projection e which engages with the loop d<1> when in the closed position. The chamber or chambers a are formed in moulding the box. On pressing the side members of the loop d', the central portion is made to bow out, due to the compressibility of the cork composition, thus enabling the loop to pass over the member e. The box may be covered with light resilient material such as papier-mÔchÚ &c.
