1535181 Credit and like cards McCORQUODALE & CO Ltd 24 Feb 1976 [6 March 1975 3 Dec 1975] 9327/75 and 49574/75 Heading B6A [Also in Division G4] A record medium, e.g. a security card 1, to be read by a magnetic pick-up head extending transversely to the scanning direction 30, bears first and second magnetizable characters 20, the first being of such a shape and density as to produce a single, sharp flux increase and a gradual flux decrease when magnetized and scanned, the second characters producing a gradual flux increase and a single, sharp flux decrease. The first and second characters, e.g. opposite handed, right-angled triangles, may be supplemented by third, rectangular characters producing single, sharp flux increases and decreases. The characters may be made up of dots or squares, and may be spaced, contiguous and/or associated with a magnetic strip. The triangle edges may be stepped.
