Abstract

1534787 Azomethine complex metal pigments CIBA-GEIGY AG 8 July 1977 [30 June 1976] 27355/76 Heading C4P Novel metal complex azomethine pigments having the formula (where A is a C 2-8 alkylene residue or an isocyclic, aromatic of heterocyclic residue; R is C 1-6 alkyl, C 6-10 aryl or C 7-10 aralkyl; X and Y independently are H, hal or a non-water solubilizing group or X and Y together form an aromatic or heterocyclic residue and M is a divalent transitional metal) are prepared by reacting 2 mols of the appropriate 3- formyl-4-hydroxy-2-quinalone with I mol of the appropriate diamino and then metallizing the resulting ligand. Preferred metals are copper or nickel. The pigments are used for colouring high molecular weight organic material particularly an aminoplast, an alkyd resin, a phenoplast, polycarbonate, polyester, polyamide, polyurethane, polycarbonate, polyester, polyamide, polyurethane, polyolefine, polystyrene, polyacrylic acid ester, polyacrlyonitrile, a rubber, casein, a silicone or silicone resin or an acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene terpolymer.
