Abstract

1534009 Window frame L K GILLIES 29 Sept 1976 [1 Oct 1975 18 Feb 1976] 40391/76 Heading E1J A window frame comprises a two-part upper member 14, the outer part 19 having a flange 24 and a stiffened edge 22, the inner part 20 has a return flange 26 and a rear flange 28, the gap between these parts receives the cladding 11 of the building and acts as a water drain vertically above the sloping sill portion 42 of the lower frame member 16 (the drainage path is arrowed A-A). The side members 15 may have a stiffened edge 37 and a flange 34. Corner joints may be held by spot welding. The window frames are suitable for framed buildings e.g. clad with corrugated iron. Fig. 7 (not shown) illustrates members suitable for a mullion.
