Abstract

The continuous process for polymerisation of polyester makes use of a series assembly of a monoaxial disc polymeriser, a biaxial disc polymeriser and a biaxial polymeriser (10) with small stirring blades (15A, 15B) in the shape of an 8 comprising two annular hooks (14) and two scraper plates (16). The blades are fastened to two rotating shafts (13A, 13B) respectively. A number of pairs of 8-shaped blades (15A, 15B) are arranged on the rotary shafts with a relative offset of 90 DEG . The shafts rotate in opposite directions and the blades are arranged so that the space between the scraper plates (16) adjacent to one another in the direction of the rotary shafts is reduced to a minimum and that the scraper plates (16) pass very near the rotary shafts in order to eliminate dead volumes in the device. <IMAGE>
