Abstract

1533498 Pins; expansible nail sockets A C WORRALLO 24 May 1977 [27 Sept 1976] 21942/77 Heading F2H A pin for use with an expansible plastics plug has an enlarged head 10 connected to the shank 12 by a weakened, circular break-off region 18. This region is formed by a recess 16 in the head 10. The recess may be of smaller diameter than the shank 12 and extend into the top of the shank so that the region 18 is a cylindrical wall. The pin may be of steel or aluminium. The pin and plug are intended to fasten a member 30 to a cavity wall 32. To release the fixing, the centre of the pin head 10 is given a sharp blow to fracture the region 18. The pin shank 12 is then driven right through the plug so that the latter can contract and be withdrawn from the hole.
