Abstract

1533365 Repairing ingot moulds FOSECO TRADING AG 28 Feb 1977 [4 March 1976 23 June 1976] 8355/77 Heading B3F [Also in Divisions C7 and C5] An exothermic composition, which on ignition yields a molten mass, comprises a particulate mixture of iron oxide, oxidizable metal and a refractory filler consisting at least partly of zircon. The filler may also include one or more of silica sand, silica flour, olivine, quartz, chamotte, mullite, crushed fire brick, sillimanite, fire clay, silicon carbide, magnesite, aluminium silicate, dead-burnt dolomite, alumina, magnesia, fused silica or vitreous silica, and may amount to 18-50% by weight of the combined weight of metal and iron oxide. It is used particularly for the repair of eroded ingot mould base plates.
