Abstract

1533132 Electronic musical instruments NIPPON GAKKI SEIZO KK 12 Aug 1976 [21 Aug 1975] 33515/76 Heading G5J An electronic instrument of the kind having a memory storing numerically an attack-decay envelope is organized so that during a single depression of a key the memory can be read repeatedly and the amplitude of the musical tone repeatedly varied to provide a "repeatattack" effect. In Fig. 4 a counter 71, which operates in time-shared manner in twelve channels corresponding to twelve notes which may be played simultaneously, is incremented by clock pulses on line 74; at each count the value in the counter addresses the memory which delivers a value representing the instantaneous amplitude of the tone; every 64 counts a complete envelope is read out. A gate 99 is arranged to inhibit the pulses on line 74 when the counter is full, so the tome is sounded only once, unless a switch 91, 92, 93 is closed when the counter recycles continuously until the key is released. Different switches 91, 92, 93 introduce the repeat effect on different keyboards. When the key is released the counter continues to count to full from a fast clock causing a rapid decay (Fig. 6(d), not shown).
