Abstract

1482302 Electrophonic musical instrument NIPPON GAKKI SEIZO KK 2 Jan 1975 [11 Jan 1974] 299/75 Heading G5J An electrophonic musical instrument has means for sounding in rapid succession a note selected on the keyboard and another note separated by a predetermined interval (e.g. an octave or a sixth) from the selected note. The invention is described applied to a computer organ as in Specification No. 1,441,776 in which Fourier components are calculated and added to produce waveform sample points. The signal qR on line 31 indicating the sample point being evaluated is fed to a shift register which is alternately shifted left and back again by a clock 50 so that the notes corresponding to qR and 2qR are alternately produced. If an interval other than the octave is required, another type of multiplier is used. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the octave repeat clock varies the number R read-out of the memory 28. The harmonic coefficients Cn are scaled by factors accessed from memory 58 to provide a desired attack and decay for the alternating notes. On release of the key, a slow decay is provided by control circuit 68 which either varies the first accessed address in memory 58 or scales down output of memory 58.
