Potato diggers.-In a harvester comprising an inclined endless grating or elevator mounted behind a share, the elevator is arranged to incline gradually more and more towards one side so that the potatoes slide towards that side as they are carried upwards. The share d is carried by a fixed grating e on one side of the machine frame b. The potatoes &c. are thrown on to the inclined endless grating f by forks g rotating about a transverse axis. The grating f is carried by two rollers, the upper one of which is inclined downwards towards the side of the machine opposite the share d. The potatoes are discharged from the lower side of the grating f into baskets h placed on a platform i. Teeth are provided on some of the bars of the endless grating and are arranged so as to carry the potato tops &c. towards the upper side. A toothed roller is mounted so that its teeth pass between the bars of the grating f and dislodge any potatoes that may be carried along.
