Abstract

1533034 Anti-skid brake control KNORR BREMSE GmbH 23 Jan 1976 [1 Feb 1975] 02755/76 Heading F2F An antiskid device comprises rod 40 to which is attached roller 42 which follows cam track 44 of flywheel 44<1> such that rod 40 is pushed upwards when the rotary deceleration of the vehicle wheel exceeds a first predetermined value causing outlet valve C to vent brake cylinder D if the wheel decleration persist at or above the first predetermined level for a given period of time. If however a second, higher predetermined decleration is exceeded the roller 42 contacts surface 48 of track 44 to cause rod 40 to open a valve 32 resulting in substantially instantaneous venting of brake cylinder D to relieve braking effort. When rod 40 is raised chamber 38 of the device vents through a hollow extension of the rod via chokes 50, 52 and 54. Chambers 38 and 28 are also connected to control chamber 60 and chamber 70 respectively such that once the pressure in chamber 60 has diminished to a certain value piston 62 will be forced upwards to open valve 68 to vent chamber 28 via pipe 72 and chamber 70, causing upward movement of pot-shaped piston 26 to vent chamber 14 of valve C opening valve 10 to vent and thus relieve brake cylinder D. The delay between the initial movement of rod 40 and brake relief is governed by the size of chokes 50, 52 and 54. In the second predetermined position of rod 40 the valve 32 is opened directly by shoulders 56 of rod 40 causing instantaneous venting of chamber 28, raising of pot-shaped piston 26 by pressure in annular chamber 24 and venting of chamber 14 of valve C therethrough. The flywheel mass 44<1> is of the type mounted on a shaft parallel to rod 40, the track 44 being formed by a cut-out from the outer peripheral annular wall of the flywheel mass 44<1> (see Specification 807,177), wheel rotational deceleration causing relative movement between the roller 42 and the flywheel 44<1> around the periphery of the flywheel along track 44.
