Abstract

1532347 Proportioning liquid mixture constituents TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORP 9 Dec 1975 26579/78 Heading B1C [Also in Division B8] In the apparatus depicted 120, 128 and 134 are peristaltic pumps energized in predetermined sequence by programmer 122; and the portions of the probe 98 between its inlet end 102 and junction 106, and between junctions 106, 116, are of predetermined volume. In operation the pumps 120, 134 are first energized and the probe inserted in a first liquid (e.g. a diluent) in receptacle 138, whereby the whole apparatus except the portion 112, 126 is filled with the first liquid. Pump 134 is then de-energized and the probe transferred to another receptacle (145) containing a second liquid (e.g. a blood sample). In course of transfer, liquid in conduit portions 100, 104, 118 will be replaced first by air and then by the second liquid. Pump 120 is then de-energized and the probe transferred to a third receptacle (142) which may contain reagent, and pump 128 then energized to supply air which will displace the predetermined volumes 102, 106 and 106, 116 of second and first liquid respectively, with the receptacle.
