Abstract
1532150 Thermal switches; switch contacts WAGNER ELECTRIC CORP 21 Sept 1977 [4 Oet 1976] 39309/77 Heading H1N A terminal in an electrothermally-operated switch, such as a flasher unit for vehicle direction signals, is made from material of high thermal and electrical conductivity, such as copper or aluminium and is clad on at least one side with a readily weldable metal, such as low carbon steel. This allows ready resistance welding of leads, for example, to the terminal while the high conductivity portion reduces heat electrically generated therein when in use, and also allows more rapid dissipation of this heat and of heat generated at the switch contacts. The material of high conductivity is preferably 5 to 15 times the thickness of the weldable layer, and the whole terminal may be gold or cadmium plated.
