Abstract
1531930 Photo-electric defect detectors ARGUS ELECTRONIC VOLE IVERSEN 27 Sept 1976 [3 Oct 1975] 40058/76 Heading G1A To detect various forms of holes in a moving knitted fabric three photo-detectors are arranged behind a slot which is disposed transverse to the direction of motion, and the outputs of the detectors are summed to indicate defects extending across all three detectors, and are also compared to indicate defects adjacent only one or two of the detectors. In Fig. 1 the signals from detectors 1-3 are all fed to operational amplifier 12 where their sum is found; they are also each fed to operational amplifiers 4-6 where each is compared with the mean of the other two. After rectification at 7-9 and summation at 10 the result is displayed at 11. If a hole extends across all three detectors the signals on all the inputs to 4-6 are equal and cancel, so the only output is from 12; for any other sort of hole there will be an output at 11. Circuit details are given, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), as are setting-up procedures.
