Abstract

1531848 Gamma cameras M. LANDOLINA 21 July 1976 [28 July 1975] 30441/76 Heading H4F A gamma camera having a detector head which comprises a plurality of photomultiplier tubes P1-Pn is provided with circuitry for improving the resolution of the camera, said circuitry comprising an adder 11 for combining the output signals of the photomultiplier tubes into a sum signal, an attenuator 13 for reducing said sum signal to a predetermined fraction thereof, and a plurality of variable threshold amplifiers 12, each of which is associated with a respective photomultiplier tube, for subtracting said predetermined fraction of the sum signal from the output signal of the respective tube. Thereby, only those signals originating from photomultiplier tubes situated within a predetermined circle having its centre at the scintillation point are utilized for determining the sparking coordinates.
