Abstract

1531739 Dispensing label-strip in labelling machines MONARCH MARKING SYSTEMS Inc 31 Oct 1975 [19 Dec 1974 14 May 1975] 45466/75 Heading B8M The invention is incorporated in apparatus for printing and applying pressure-sensitive labels, such as exemplified in Specification 1,482,186, the general form of which, Fig. 1 (not shown), with modifications of components pertaining to printing, separation of labels from backing web, feeding, guiding and controlling such web and including optional features of the invention, is described in the Specification. As shown, a (web-) feed wheel 171 having teeth at its periphery engageable with a web of label strip (supplied from a roll thereof) for advancing the web relative to a separating means (so-called delaminator) and a rotatable drive wheel (itself comprising a ratchet wheel 505) are interconnected by clutch mechanism whereby the drive wheel transmits rotation to the feed wheel. This mechanism comprises two sets of members 507, 502, secured against rotation relative to drive and feed wheels respectively urged into clutching engagement, as by a compression spring 510 the members may be shifted e.g. manually, relatively apart axially (against the force of urging means) to an unclutched position and rotated (to an extent limited by stops) in order to effect change in position of the drive wheel relative to feed wheel to vary the position to which the web is advanced by the feed wheel relative to the separating means.
