Abstract
The implant contains a metallic base material (1) and a layer (4), which has been applied thereto by thermal spraying, of hydroxyapatite or a mixture of hydroxyapatite and ceramic materials. It is optionally possible for a layer, which is likewise thermally sprayed, of a binder and another layer of ceramic material to be present between the base material surface and the said layer. The implant has excellent strength properties, in particular high impact strength, and furthermore good affinity for tissues of living beings. <IMAGE>
