Abstract

1530524 Particle accelerators CGR-MEV 21 July 1976 [24 July 1975] 30477/76 Heading H1D The supply system for a particle accelerator A# in which the low impedance pulse generator G may be situated at a distance of several metres from the accelerator, includes a step-up transformer T 1 disposed in the vicinity of the accelerator, the secondary winding of T 1 supplying a pulsed high voltage to the accelerator gun C A , and the primary winding being coupled to the pulse generator G via a transmission line L and an adjustable matching means-an adjustable resistor S A , as described-between the transmission line and the generator, permitting correction of the pulses applied to the gun. High frequency energy is injected, via line g, into the accelerator sections from a Klystron K fed from the pulse generator G via a further step-up voltage transformer T 2 .
