Abstract

1530410 Stripping developable materials for lithographic plates FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 9 July 1976 [11 July 1975] 28755/76 Heading G2C A light-sensitive planographic material which is developed by peeling comprises, in order, (a) a support having a surface of anodically oxidized aluminium or aluminium alloy (b) a hydrophilic polymer layer (c) a light-sensitive layer and (d) a transparent cover film. On imagewise exposure the adhesion of the exposed and unexposed areas of the light-sensitive layer (c) to the cover film (d) and polymer layer (b) differs, thus the cover film is removed taking with it either the exposed or unexposed areas leaving an image for printing on the support. The support comprises (i) an Al or Al alloy plate (ii) a bi-metal or tri-metal plate including Cu, Zn or Fe with the surface being Al or Al alloy or (iii) Al or Al alloy laminated to a polymeric support. The hydrophilic polymers are cellulose derivatives, polyvinyl alcohol or pyrrolidone, polyacrylamide, partial esters, partial ethers and partial acetals of polyvinyl alcohol; polyvinyl methyl ether, vinyl methyl ether-maleic anhydride copolymer, styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer, hydrolyzed polyvinyl acetate, polysodium acrylate, polyethylene glycol, starch, carboxymethyl and dialdehyde starch, sodium alginate, agar, tragacanth gum, gelatine and modified gelatine, gum arabic and mixtures thereof. The light-sensitive composition contains an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, a binder e.g. chlorinated polyolefins and polyvinyl butyral, and a photopolymerization initiator and may be coloured. The cover film is polyethylene terephthalate.
