1530043 Cyclic perketals ARGUS CHEMICAL CORP 13 Jan 1976 [30 June 1975] 1248/76 Heading C2C The invention comprises cyclic peroxides of the formula in which R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> each independently represent, a methyl or ethyl group, and R<SP>1</SP> represents a 2-methyl-2-hydroxy-propyl or 2-methyl-2- methoxypropyl residue, or an alkyl carboxylate ester group of up to 10 carbon atoms wherein the acid moiety of the ester is bonded to the ring carbon atom. Preparation is by reaction of a ketone CH 3 COR<SP>1</SP> with an alkyl hydroperoxide The peroxides may be used as agents to cross-link high density polyethylene (see Specification 1,530,044).
