Abstract
1529811 Nuclear reactors UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 4 June 1976 [20 June 1975 10 Sept 1975] 26371/75 and 37246/75 Heading G6C A liquid metal cooled nuclear reactor construction has thermal insulation disposed between the reactor vessel and the roof structure which comprises sectoral panels 14 of superimposed plates 19 having baffles 23a-23g between the plates and the roof structure to restrict conventional flow of metal vapour. The panels are supported by bolts 16 from the primary vessel diaphragm 15 and are apertured to accommodate tubular members 24 through which the ducts for the secondary heat exchange fluid pass. The baffles 23a and 23b between the upper plates and the diaphragm are constituted by wire wool and stainless steel strip material. The baffles 23g between the bottom adjacent plates of adjoining panels are looped strips which extend between the plates.
