Abstract

Discharging.-Means for uniformly discharg ing coke from coal-car bonizing shaft furnace! and the like comprise an annular plate 32 and a perforated cone 34 which support the coke and a scraping-ring 4( having an uprigh flange 42, which is given a gyratory motion over an annular wear-plate 44 by reciprocating pis tons 48, 50 and rods 60, 62 pivoted to ar eccentrically - placec pivot pin 64 to which the ring is fixed. A series of webs or plates 68 extend radially in wards from the walls of the furnace to co-act with the annular ring in crushing the coke. Steam may be supplied to the fuel by perforations in the apron 38 and cone 34.
