Abstract

1529654 Automatic exchange systems INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 10 May 1977 [14 May 1976] 19535/77 Heading H4K In an exchange having subscribers lines connected to a switching network via individual line circuits, groups of line circuits are coupled to respective group signalling highways H0-H111 over which various signals are distributed to the line circuits. The signals include ringing signals for various types of line, coin collect and reject signals for pay stations, party line test signals and test multifrequency test signals. A reed relay matrix couples the various group highways to the various signal sources, the signals being distributed on a highway in a TDM manner. The exchange is of the type having a central processor e.g. of the stored programme type, and the processor is also connected to each line cicuit (Figure 3, not shown) to control the connection of the line circuit to the signalling highway. For testing purposes signals may be sent in both directions over the signalling highway. The switching network may be an electronic network or a TDM, PCM network e.g. of a type which cannot pass high voltage signals.
