Abstract
1529590 Forming printing rollers LEATHLEY PUBLICATIONS Ltd 7 Oct 1977 [8 Oct 1976] 42002/76 Heading H4F A copy of an original is engraved by a laser on a print roller such that the copy occupies the whole of the circumference of the roller. When the original is mounted on a drum its ends may be circumferentially spaced. The original is scanned by a read head moved stepwise parallel to the rotating drum. The video signal from the head, representing the scan during a single revolution of the drum, is written in to a store under the control of pulses related to the rotation of the drum and the axial position of the head. Two stores are provided, used alternately. The stored video signal is augmented by pulses which have the effect of lengthening the signal so that the lengthened video signal corresponds to one full revolution of the drum rather than to the circumferential length of the original. The stores are read out to the laser write head under the control of pulses related to rotational position of the rotating print roller as the head is moved parallel to it.
