Abstract

1529199 Transfer dyeing and printing CIBA GEIGY AG 29 Dec 1975 [30 Dec 1974 12 Dec 1975] 53018/75 Headings D1B and D1P Dyes and/or fluorescent brighteners are transferred to sheet materials of natural polyamide fibrous material or blends thereof with a hydrophilic and/or synthetic fibrous material, by (1) impregnating with an aqueous solution or dispersion of at least one organic compound of boiling point at least 120‹C and a solubility or dispersibility of at least 25 g/l in water at 25‹C alone or with a solvent or dispersant, and has a vapour pressure of at least 10<SP>-5</SP> Torr under the transfer conditions, and drying (ii) applying a printing ink containing at least one sublimable reactive disperse or disperse dye or brightener, solvent or water, or mixture thereof, and a binder to an inert auxiliary carrier, (iii) bringing the textile sheet material into contact with the surface of the auxiliary carrier on which the dye or brightener is present, (iv) heating the material and carrier at 100‹- 250‹C for 1-60 secs while exerting mechanical pressure (v) separating the sheet material from the carrier and washing. The compound used for impregnating the fibres may be a urea or thiourea derivative, an amide, imidazole, caprolactam, 3-sulpholane, diphenylsulphone, pentamethylene sulphone, an alcohol or ketone or a cyclic alkyl carbonate.
