Abstract

1404179 Transfer printing with anthraquinone dyestuffs BAYER AG 22 Nov 1972 [22 Nov 1971] 53889/72 Heading D1B [Also in Division C4] The invention comprises a process for the transfer printing of textile materials of synthetic fibres or non-textile articles (i.e. plastics or natural fibre material coated with plastics) wherein a dyestuff of the formula: is used. In the above formula, R represents a C 1 -C 6 alkyl radical or a cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl radical, which radicals may be substituted by OH, halogen, CN, OCH 3 , OC 2 H 5 or -NHCOCH 3 ; Y represents H, halogen or -NHR 1 ; R 1 represents H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl which is optionally substituted by OH, halogen, CN, OCH 3 , OC 2 H 5 or -NHCOCH 3 , or a cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl radical; and X is H, OH or optionally substituted C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, with the proviso that both radicals X cannot simultaneously denote a hydrogen atom. The dyestuffs are applied to auxiliary carriers, for example by padding or printing and then. transferred by sublimation, through the action of heat, from the printed auxiliary carrier to the textile substrate. Suitable auxiliary carriers are for example paper, aluminium foils, fleeces or sheets of synthetic polymers and textiles of synthetic fibres. Suitable textile substrates to be printed are for example those made of polyester, polyacrylonitrile, polyamide and cellulose acetate fibres and blends thereof.
