Abstract
1529030 Extracting mercury from aqueous media HOECHST AG 13 Dec 1976 [11 Dec 1975] 51911/76 Heading C1A Mercury is extracted from an aqueous medium, e.g. from an amalgam electrolysis cell, having at least 2 moles of C1- per mole of Hg, by treatment with an organic phase substantially immiscible with water and containing a mineral acid salt of an amine R 1 R 2 R 3 N where R 1 -R 3 are C 8-13 alkyl, and the Hg is recovered from the organic phase by treatment with aq.NaCl soln. containing sufficient NaOH to convert all amine salt present to free amine. Continuous procedures are described.
