Abstract
1528658 Cyclone separators VAN TONGEREN UK Ltd 6 April 1977 [13 April 1976] 15141/76 Heading B2P An apparatus for separating particulate solids from a gas stream comprises a plurality of cylindrical cyclone separator vessels 1 connected in parallel, the vessels being fed from a common gas manifold 2 and discharging to a common gas outlet duct (not shown) by means of one or more discharge manifolds 6a, 6b. Each vessel has a separator chamber having a uniform internal diameter of 20 to 40 inches and is provided with a solids-collecting hopper 4 connected to a common solids-collector vessel 9. The separator chambers are made of austenistic steel. The apparatus may be mounted in the exhaust duct of a catalyst regenerator of a catalytic cracking unit, Fig. 3B (not shown), for separating entrained catalyst particles from the flue gases and for directly feeding the cleaned flue gases to a recovery turbine which drives an air compressor supplying inlet air to the regenerator.
