Abstract

1527982 Branch fittings WILLIAM BAILEY (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd 16 Sept 1975 [3 Oct 1974 2 May 1975] 42922/74 and 18424/75 Heading F2G A fitting for use in tapping a water pipe 12 comprises a body having an inlet passage 40 passing to a branch outlet by way of a manually operated valve (not shown), the fitting also comprising a saddle piece 32 so that the fitting may be secured to the pipe by means of screws 34 engaging with flanges 28 on the body and the saddle piece 32, and a resilient facing 30 of neoprene being provided to seal around a drilled aperture 44 in the pipe. The saddle piece may also be provided with a similar facing 36. The inlet passage may serve as a guide for the drill used to form the aperture 44. The branch outlet (not shown) may extend in the direction of the pipe 12 or a coupling may be provided on the fitting body to allow the branch to extend at other angular positions relative to the pipe.
