Abstract

1527893 Interwinding webs SCAL SOC DE CONDITIONNEMENTS EN ALUMINIUM 14 Oct 1975 [16 Oct 1974] 41977/75 Heading B8R A machine for interwinding a predetermined length of a web 1 with a shorter length of a strip 9, e.g. a label, advertising or instruction strip, comprises a winding unit 6 preceded by a pair of feed rollers 5 and a label dispenser 8 associated with a continuously driven pressure roller 11 which upon a signal produced by a control circuit associated with the winding unit 6, causes the pressure roller 12 to move into contact with an idler roller 11. Rollers 11, 12 feed the strip 9 through a guide 13, 14 into an overlying relationship with the web 1, the feeding being tripped by a further signal when the strip 9 is engaged by the nip of the rollers 5. When a predetermined length of the web 1 has been fed to the web winding unit 6 a further signal generated by the control circuit trips a cutter 4. The trailing edge of the strip 9 may be provided with an adhesive tab dispensed from a unit 16 to attach the trailing end of the web to the roll.
