Abstract

1527770 Stabilized saturated aldehyde polymers SOC ITALIANA RESINE SIR SpA 19 Dec 1975 [20 Dec 1974] 52173/75 Heading C3P A stabilized composition comprises (1) an acetal polymer (i.e. a polymer of a saturated aldehyde) and (2) as stabilizer 0À02 to 12 parts by wt. per 100 p.b.w. of (1), of an A-B-R block copolymer wherein A is a polylactam block of the recurring units obtainable from one or more lactams of formula wherein PM is a linear C 3-13 polymethylene chain which may be substituted by at least one alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, or alkaryl group, B is a polyoxymethylene block and R is a terminal ester, ether, or urethane group. In the examples the acetal polymer (1) is a polyoxymethylene derived from formaldehyde. The exemplified stabilizers have a block A derived from pyrrolidone, epsilon caprolactam or N-acetyl lauryl lactam and all the B blocks are derived from formaldehyde. The exemplified capping group R is acetate.
