Abstract

1526663 Vibratory screens DERRICK MFG CORP 25 April 1977 17121/77 Heading B2H In a vibratory screening apparatus, a pair of screen cloths 14, 15 in face to face abutment are supported on a frame 10 and the openings in the screen cloths are at least twice as wide as the wire diameters of the screen cloths. The openings of the lower screen cloth 15 are at least as large as, but not in excess of 50% larger than, the openings of the upper screen cloth, with the majority of the openings in the upper screen cloth intersected by the wires of the lower abutting screen cloth. The frame 10 includes supporting members 11, 12 presenting upwardly arched surfaces which support the screen cloths in upwardly arched formation so that the wires of the lower screen cloth are locked into those of the upper screen cloth in such a manner that the plane defining the upper surfaces of the lower screen cloth is above that defining the lower surfaces of the upper screen cloth. With such a construction, the wires of the lower screen cloth effectively prevents a particle A of material being screened from becoming lodged in an opening of the upper screen cloth. Also, because of the arched condition of the screen cloths, there is a very slight relative movement of the screen cloths during vibration. A backing screen 24 underlies the two screen cloths and a cushioning strip 26 is interposed between the backing screen and the frame 10. The screen cloths are tensioned by a rail member 20 connected to a flange 17 by a bolt and nut assembly 22.
