Abstract

1526567 Recording MARCONI CO Ltd 25 May 1977 [13 July 1976] 28978/76 Heading H4F To prevent intermodulation between video signals from two (as described) channels and a pilot signal when recorded on a frequency modulated tape system 1, the signal from one channel 2 (preferably the upper channel) is amplitude modulated at 5 on a carrier, summed at 7 with the other video signal and the pilot tone, and then fed to the recording system. During replay, the frequency modulated signal is demodulated at 8, the amplitude modulated carrier, pilot tone and other video signal are filtered out at 9, 10, 11 respectively and the carrier is demodulated so as to provide the three signals originally present at 2, 3, 4. For an arrangement using n video signals, there must be n-1 sources of carrier signal.
