Abstract

1525590 Photographic processing apparatus POLAROID CORP 31 Oct 1975 45360/75 Heading G2X A photographic apparatus (e.g. in a self-processing camera) for spreading a processing composition across a photo-sensitive element of an exposed film unit 12 comprises a pair of juxtaposed pressure applying members 14, 16 including at least one roller which is power-driven through a ratchet 38 and a resilient pawl 46, the pawl being mounted for rotation with the roller; when the ratchet is rotatably power-driven the ratchet teeth are engaged by the pawl which is thereby rotates therewith and causes rotation of the roller in a predetermined direction; when the roller is rotated in the same direction by manually pulling a film unit between the pressure-applying members the pawl slides over the ratchet teeth so that it does not drive the ratchet, thereby preventing damage to the power drive. As shown the ratchet is driven by a motor 20 via a gear train and pawl 46 has a pair of arms 42, 44 each shaped to engage two ratchet teeth.
