Abstract
1524702 Air conditioning units J P RAMIN 14 Aug 1975 [14 Aug 1974] 33933/75 Heading F4V An air conditioning unit comprises a casing subdivided by a partition into first and second compartments, shown separately in Figs. 2, 3 respectively, having openings 31, 41 which communicate in use with fresh air and openings 33, 43 which communicate in use with a space to be conditioned, a heat pump having an evaporator 37 and a compressor 38 in the first compartment and a condenser 50 in the second compartment, and a reversible fan 35, 45 in each compartment, whereby fresh air is caused to enter the space via the second compartment and is heated during winter and via the first compartment and is cooled during summer, vitiated air being caused to leave the space in each case via the other compartment. Replaceable filters 34, 36, 44, 47 are provided. The first compartment includes a condensate container 39 and the second compartment includes humidifiers 48, 48<SP>1</SP> having closely spaced plates dipped into water in containers 49, 49<SP>1</SP> connected to container 39 to receive condensate therefrom, and electrical resistance heating elements 46, 46<SP>1</SP>. The casing may be lined with sound insulating material. A thermostat mounted on a control panel 60 has contacts which control the direction of rotation of the fans 35, 45, and either the compressor 38 alone or the compressor 38 and the heating element 46<SP>1</SP> simultaneously. The heating element 46 is controlled by a fresh air temperature sensor. The elements 46, 46<SP>1</SP> are rated 400W and 800W respectively and the power of compressor 38 is # h.p. The unit is secured against an outside wall by a device (100, Fig. 4) having a metal frame (102) and two telescopic ducts (103, 104) which pass through holes in the wall and are connected to the openings 41, 31.
