Abstract

1523627 Electroosmosis INSTITUTUL DE CERCETARI IN CONSTRUCTII SI ECONOMIA CONSTRUCTIILOR 23 Oct 1975 43660/75 Heading C7B Electroosmosis is effected using a system of corrosion-resistant electrodes so arranged within or on the surface of a porous medium containing the polar liquid to be electroosmosed, that the difference between the anode subpressure and cathode overpressure is expressed as where k e is the electroosmotic filtration coefficient (cm<SP>2</SP>/sec. V), k is the hydraulic filtration coefficient (cm/sec) and U the applied potential (V). The electrodes are punctiform; flat or concave mesh; bars, tubes or plates; closed or open contoured, with curved or polygonal peripheries, e.g. as in the Figure.
