Abstract

1523504 Reclaiming waste tips MATRAALJAI SZENBANYAK 16 March 1976 10525/76 Heading A1E Waste tips are reclaimed, after levelling and protecting from erosion, by working into the soil a mixture of a fertilizer and 50- 60% of an organic material such as lignite or peat having a particle size of 0.5-4mm, at a rate of 30-60 q/ha (quintals per hectare). A seed mixture of a cereal and a Papillionaceae is then sown. A top dressing of 85kg/ha of a nitrogenous fertilizer is preferably applied before sowing or during growth of the plants. The resulting vegetation is ploughed in, at ear-forming time of the cereal, preferably with the addition of 85kg/ha of a nitrogenous fertilizer, and 4-6 weeks later the soil is ploughed to a depth of 40-45 cm. Prior to, or simultaneously with, the application of the fertilizer/organic material mixture, and depending on the soil of the tip, additional organic material, similar to that in the mixture, may be worked into the soil at a rate of 100-500 q/ha.
