1523371 Knitting-machine MILLIKEN RESEARCH CORP 12 Jan 1976 01047/76 Heading D1C The roll of taken-up fabric 22 in a circular knitting machine is removed by means of levers 66 pivoted to a frame by a linkage 58, 60 and receiving the shaft 78 of the roll in grooves such that by swinging and pulling a handle 64 on the levers the roll is first lifted and then lowered as the levers adopt a horizontal position which allows the shaft 78 to leave the grooves. To maintain constant tension in the fabric as it is taken down the speed of drive rolls 18, 20. 24 is controlled in dependence on the position of a rod 16.
