Abstract

1522929 Iron ore reduction FRIED KRUPP GmbH 23 June 1977 [24 June 1976] 26407/77 Heading C7D [Also in Division F4] In the direct reducton of iron ore in a shaft furnace, reducing gases are fed through a central inlet 7 as well as through peripheral layers 6, and the cross-section of the furnace increases downwardly in an abrupt manner at the level of gas entry. The central gas inlet 7 may have a protective baffle 11 and be at a lower level than the layers 6, the furnace shaft widening downwardly in two steps 12, 13. The shaft bottom tapers to the outlet 14.
