Abstract

In order to manufacture a time-base signal generator, a quartz crystal having dimensions included within predetermined tolerances is formed, this quartz crystal is connected to an oscillating circuit and to a frequency divider, these circuits being constructed such that the division ratio is adjustable. According to the invention, the crystal is of the GT-cut type and the polishing is carried out in such a way that the ratio between the width (w) and the length (l) has precisely the value which corresponds to a zero frequency/temperature coefficient. The width and the length may have values which depart from the nominal values provided that they remain within the tolerances ( DELTA w) and ( DELTA l). Under these conditions, the generator of the time-base signal entirely forgoes any temperature-compensation element. <IMAGE>
