Abstract

1521695 Rhodium carbonyl catalysts UNION CARBIDE CORP 16 Sept 1975 [17 Sept 1974] 37958/75 Heading CIA [Also in Division C2] Alcohol products in a homogeneous liquid phase mixture obtained in the reaction of oxides of carbon and hydrogen in a solvent solution containing a rhodium carbonyl complex catalyst are separated by volatilizing the products while maintaining the mixture in contact with carbon monoxide gas. The process enables the rhodium to be retained in solution in the liquid phase in the solvent used for the preceding reaction; a variety of solvents is listed, ethers and lactones being preferred. Ligands other than carbonyl may be present in the complex.
