Abstract

1521466 Flexible closure CRANE FRUEHAUF Ltd 4 July 1975 [18 Sept 1974] 40651/74 Heading E1J A curtain assembly closing a rectangular opening in a frame comprises a rectangular curtain 2 of which one transverse edge 23 is permanently connected along one side of the frame and the opposite transverse edge 5 is provided with means 9 for detachably securing it to the opposite side of the frame or to a transverse edge 6 of a similar curtain 2a, one of the longitudinal edges of the curtain being slidably connected to the adjacent edge of the frame e.g. by means of slidable hangers 4 and the opposite longitudinal edge of the curtain being held tensioned to the adjacent frame edge by an elongate pliable element e.g. rope 19L. As shown the curtain has arcuate pockets for ropes on three edges, ropes passing over guides on the frame between the pockets. The upper guides are on slidable hangers 4. The guides at the side and bottom of the frame are fixed. At the bottom of the frame, and optionally also at the top, two ropes A, B are provided passing through alternate pockets. Tensioning devices 24, 21, 22 are provided at the ends of the side and bottom ropes. The other side of the curtain is attached to a rigid strip 5 which carries a slidable bar 9 operated manually by a lever 17 which bar may lock with pins 12, 13 on the adjacent curtain 2a.
