Abstract

1520649 Weighing MAATSCHAPPIJ VAN BERKEL'S PATENT NV 15 Oct 1975 [19 Oct 1974] 42154/75 Heading G1W Apparatus for determining the mass flow of goods comprises a conveyer carrying the goods from a feed station 12 to a receiving station 13, a dynamometer including oscillating strings S1, S2 which is connected to the conveyer or the receiving station to detect the reaction forces produced by acceleration of the goods by the conveyer or deceleration of the goods by the receiving station, and evaluating means 34 which detects the frequencies of the strings. As shown, conveyer 11 is movably mounted by links 12, and is connected by linkwork 23, 24, 25, 33 to two strings S1, S2 which are pretensioned by a spring 31. During successive time intervals T determined by generator 36, the oscillations of the two strings are counted by counters 35, 35' for a time # determined by a generator 37. The ratio of the two counts Z 1 , Z 2 which is proportional to the reaction force K, is determined at 38, and at 40 the ratio Z 1 /Z 2 is multiplied by T and divided by the conveyer velocity # to determine the mass added to the conveyer in the interval T. The total mass is then determined by the adder 45. In a modification, generator 37 is dispensed with, and the counts in each interval T are terminated when Z 2 reaches a predetermined value, K then being proportional to Z 1 .
