Abstract

1520574 Synthetic paper TEIJIN Ltd 27 Feb 1976 [27 Feb 1975 (2) 28 Feb 1975 (2)] 7891/76 Heading D2B [Also in Division C3] Pulp-forming aromatic polyamide or polyamide-imide particles are formed by adding a solution of the polymer in an organic solvent containing 1 to 10 wt. % water, with stirrer, to an aqueous precipitate containing 15 to 48% (for polyamide) or 40 to 75% (for polyamide-imide) of an amide solvent and heating the precipitated particles at 30 to 90‹C in the presence of at least 2 parts .by weight of solvent plus precipitant. Synthetic paper-like sheets with good electrically-insulating properties are formed by conventional paper-making techniques from 20 to 95 wt. % of the particles in conjunction with thermally stable staple fibres e.g. of synthetic polymers, inorganic compounds or cellulosic fibres. Reference is made to Specification 1129097.
