1519877 Cross-linking or chain-extending hydrocarbon polymers IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 Jan 1977 [25 Feb 1976] 7419/76 Headings C3E and C3P [Also in Division C2] Hydrocarbon polymers containing ethylene unsaturation, e.g. natural rubber or SBR, are cross-linked or chain extended by heating in admixture with a carbamate of formula in which R1 is an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl radical, m is an integer, and A is H, an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl radical of valency m, or, when m = 2, can be a direct link, optionally in conjunction with an accelerator, e.g. triethylamine, tetramethyl thiourea or zinc diethyl dithiocarbamate.
